An SSL certificate is a file hosted in a website’s server. These certificates make SSL encryption possible, and they contain the website’s public key and the website’s identity, along with related information. Devices attempting to communicate with the origin server will reference this file to obtain the public key and verify the server’s identity. The private key is kept secret and secure.

How is it affecting your business?

Everytime a user tries to visit your website, the browser like google chrome first checks for its SSL. If the site has SSL certificate installed, the browser marks the site as secured. If there is no SSL certificate installed, the browser will mark that website as insecure and will try to scan it first. If the site contains minimal insecure links, it will show a warning that the site is not secure but will give you option to continue. But if the site has multiple insecure links, the browser will try to stop you from visiting this site by showing danger warning and hiding the option to continue. Even though you havent kept anything wrong in your website, it will not allow your visitor to access it which in turn harms your business.

Not only does your website need an SSL certificate, but also every single element of your site needs to be secure, too.
